AKAST e.V.

AKAST e.V. – Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Canonical Programmes of Studies in Germany based in Ingolstadt.

AKAST is dedicated to the promotion of the Faculties and other Institutes of Catholic Theology and the quality assurance of the canonical programmes of studies in accordance with the universal ecclesiastical Higher Education Law in its currently valid version and its national application within the framework of the process directed towards the development of a European Higher Education Area, in which the Holy See also participates.

AKAST is a public association under church law which was established in 2008 by representatives of the Catholic-Theological Faculty Association and the Association of Working Groups for Catholic Theology and ten theological faculties and philosophical-theological universities and was established by the German Bishops’ Conference.

Programme accreditation

According to the Interstate Treaty, programme accreditation relate to ensure and enhance the quality of individual study programmes with an external involvement (programme accreditation)
